Kids Fitness

Only recently the baby has taken his first steps, and now the family is already going to the council – where do we start taking the child for his physical development? From this article you will learn what children’s fitness is, why it is useful and what fitness clubs offer.

Children’s workout regimen

Like adults, children’s fitness is not a separate sport, but a large group of different physical training systems. In the vast majority of cases, training with children is done in groups of 10-15 people. This is the optimal number, allowing the coach not only to “keep track” of everyone and give sufficient attention to everyone, but also to provide a playful orientation to each lesson. Groups are completed by age categories – 3-5, 6-8, 9-11, 12-14 years.

The main difference between children’s fitness from sports clubs is that the child is not evaluated in terms of high potential Olympic achievement. The current level of fitness, height and weight are not the criteria for screening or enrolling in a group of a particular type of fitness for children. But a health certificate will be needed. Nevertheless, if a child is shown therapeutic exercise, for example, for scoliosis, you can find a trainer in fitness clubs for individual lessons, who has a diploma of an LFC instructor.

The number of lessons per week and their duration also depend on the age of the children, and will not allow them to overload a growing body:

  • 3-5 years – 2 times a week, 30 minutes each;
  • 6-8 years old – 2 times a week, 40 minutes each;
  • 9-11 years – 2-3 times a week, 45 minutes a week;
  • Years 12-14 years – 2-3 times a week, 1 hour.

In the structure of each training session, time for movement games and relay races is 50 to 30%, and the session with the youngest children is conducted only in a playful manner and in the style of imitation of adults. There is no competitive aspect, and comparative evaluation of “who is better or worse” is forbidden.
