International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF)
The briefThe International Association of Athletic Federations, the governing body of world athletics, decided to conduct a major Strategic Review of the sport to ensure its development and continued growth through to the centenary of the IAAF in 2012 and beyond. They engaged TSE Consulting to undertake this project together with them and has been their trusted advisor for over 10 years.
Our responseThe "Athletics` World Plan" was the personal project of the President of the IAAF, Lamine Diack. As with all such projects, TSE Consulting worked alongside its client acting the co-pilot, whilst they remained totally in control of the project `flying the aircraft`. The final plan, which was delivered to the IAAF Congress during the World Athletics Championships held in Paris, has been hailed as a landmark achievement within the sport, providing a clear direction and common platform on how to globally move Athletics forward in a strong, concise and well-coordinated manner. Together with the President and a project Steering Group, TSE assisted the IAAF in developing the key Objectives, Focus Areas and Actions contained within the plan. TSE project managed the delivery of the final plan, undertook an immense amount of initial research and benchmarking, managing working groups, working with the IAAF`s 211 individual Member Federations and conducting focus groups in literally every corner of the world. The final plan will now form the basis for basis of the IAAF`s approach to the management of the sport of Athletics over the coming decade. TSE is continuing to assist the IAAF with the Project Management of the implementation of this Strategic Plan.
