City of Manchester
The briefThe Manchester City Council has a vision to establish itself as the world-leading sport city with the Eastlands area of Manchester as the central focus for events and administration of sports. Manchester are interested in developing the burgeoning sports industry that had grown up around the 2002 Commonwealth Games legacy infrastructure in a way that not only assisted renewal of the area but also opened a channel to reconnect with the community. As part of the 'Manchester Eastlands Regeneration Framework', Manchester is looking at the potential development of a regional sports hub or house of sport concept and appointed TSE Consulting to assist with the concept development.
Our responseTSE conducted desk research and interviews with a number of sports hubs from around the world to determine common success factors and drivers for the development of a potential house of sport in the greater East Manchester area. The subsequent analysis and understanding formed the basis of the final recommendations. The final analysis provided the Manchester City Council with a comprehensive independent situational review which included an assessment of the key blockers and drivers applicable to the house of sport concept, the opportunities and proposed direction for communication and messaging, and a summary of possible key tenants.
