Voting open for the TSE / ATR Sports City Poll 2015

Vote now for the top sports city!

The official ‘Sports City Poll 2015’ is now open for voting. Now in its fourth edition, the poll has gained international attention and has become a much anticipated event. This year’s ‘Sports City Poll’ will remain open for two weeks, closing on December 13, 2015. The results – which will provide a ranking of the top 50 cities worldwide who are perceived to be associated to sport – will be announced on December 16, 2015.

Presented by Around the Rings and TSE Consulting, the poll includes only one measurement: cities who are perceived to have the strongest association with sport. Results are based on a combined weighted public online vote coupled with an industry vote from sports experts; a group of 100 leaders drawn from international federations, national Olympic committees, sports media and other influencers in the world of sport.

Respondents will chose between a list of 50 cities. These cities were selected through criteria such as staging recent and upcoming Olympics or other major multi-sport Games, hosting professional sports teams as well as organising major championships or world-class events such as tennis Grand Slams and Formula 1 races. Note that with each edition of the poll, the three lowest ranked cities drop off the list, and the top three non-listed cities named by the survey respondents are added.

In 2014, London (GBR) remained the leading sports city for a second consecutive year, followed by Sydney (AUS), Rio de Janeiro (BRA), Tokyo (JPN) and Lausanne (SUI).

Ed Hula, Editor, Around the Rings says: “Cities are competing more than ever for attention. Every day, there are interesting articles published which give insights into how cities are using sport to promote themselves. The Sports City Poll gives the public and the sport world the chance to give their views of which cities made a distinct sporting impression for the year. After an exciting year of sport, we look forward to seeing the results!”

Lars Haue-Pedersen, Managing Director, TSE Consulting, says: “Sport cities are working hard to position themselves in an increasingly competitive market. This poll is a great indicator and a unique tool to get public and sport experts opinions about the efforts made by these cities. With many cities vying for the top spot, it will be interesting to see the results this year. We wish all sport cities the best.”
