TSE Consulting launches new study

TSE Consulting is conducting a worldwide survey amongst host cities of major sport events, gaining valuable insight from more than 500 hundreds of cities . The theme of the survey will address “The impact of sport events on sport participation”.

The study will look at why sport events do not seem to have the expected impact on sport participation within a host city. While it is quite logical that host cities should benefit from hosting a major event, especially in terms of increasing the number of sport participants within their communities, the results do not seem to indicate that this is always the case. TSE’s survey aims at identifying the biggest obstacles cities face while providing added value to the sport events debate and providing cities and the greater sport network with insightful takeaways.

A big part of the study will be based on cities’ experiences, making the participation of sport host cities invaluable. To that end, TSE Consulting is now opening the survey to more than 500 sport host cities worldwide to share their experiences on the impact of hosting sport events on sport participation.
Heloise Lacroix, Consultant at TSE Consulting and lead on the study said: “One argument often used by cities to justify the expenses of hosting sport events is that it would increase sport participation among the population of the city/region. However, while this seems to be an obvious benefit, often times this is not the case. This study will help us identify why sport events do not seem to have the expected impact. We hope to uncover the major challenges cities face in achieving this objective.”
The final report which presents the views of host cities worldwide will be published at the beginning of 2016. If you have any inquiries regarding the survey or if you are a sport city and would like to participate in this survey, please contact Mrs. Heloise Lacroix directly: hlacroix@tseconsulting.com
