TSE Consulting hosts exclusive workshop on Esports events

TSE Consulting had the pleasure of hosting an exclusive Esports workshop last week in Aarhus, Denmark. The workshop offered city representatives the unique opportunity of listening to leading Esports expert Ronnie Hansen – Partner at TSE Consulting and industry leader Ulrich Schulze- Vice-President Pro-Gaming at ESL, as they revealed fascinating statistics and key take-away’s for any host keen to bring this new kind of “sport event” to their city.

Among topics discussed was the rapid rise of Esports, the investment by professional sports clubs who are setting up teams and the fact that E-sports events are attract thousands of spectators – especially its popularity among young people that is set to further grow over the coming years.

In addition, a lively exchange focused on traditional vs analogue sport events and the new opportunities available to traditional host cities emerged from the round table that followed. The panel included legendary Manchester United goalkeeper – Peter Schmeichel, Angela Ruggiero – Head of IOC Athletes Commission & Founder of Sports Innovation Lab, Dominic Grainger – CEO of WPP Sports, Rasmus Hessum Hansen – Head of Events for the City of Odense and Lindsay Harrison – Senior Manager of Edmonton Events.

Lars Haue-Pedersen, Managing Director, TSE Consulting said, “Esports is a rapidly growing sector with events that bring a following capable of changing the face of a host city. Esports makes for an interesting hosting opportunity especially for cities ready to breakout of the traditional event scene.”

Ronnie Hansen, Senior Consultant and Partner, TSE Consulting said, “Esports offers host cities new and exciting opportunities to enter into a virtually untapped market.  15 years ago, these events did not exist and now they is being followed by hundreds of thousands of youth. As more and more traditional sport organisations find ways of incorporating their sport into an Esport event this can offer an incredible opportunity for host cities now and in the future.”
